About

I started this blog 3 years ago as a creative form of therapy. I’ve always written when times were tough, confusing, stressful, cluttered or just particularly exciting. It’s just been a great way for me to tame all of these overwhelming emotions. At times I’ve forgotten that writing was my friend and let my emotions get the best of me. Luckily something has always brought me back to writing. Having a baby was one such catalyst.

When I became a mother for the first time, it was all-consuming, so everything else fell to the wayside. But as we started to settle in to our roles as mother and child, I was able to step away from the constant care giving mode and think about how I was feeling. Think about what I needed to make myself feel taken care of. One of those needs was this blog. Recording my life as a mother, wife, daughter, woman, friend, lover of food, singer, crafter, organic snob and lover of nature.

For those that stumble upon these pages, I hope it inspires you to care for yourself and those around you with all that this beautiful world has to offer. As the seasons change, I will discuss the amazing foods, places, creations and phases of childhood development that fill my world.

  1. Hello my dear old friend!
You so totally ROCK! I would love to follow your blog. I am also a stay at home mama trying to do my best for my kids and the earth. I’m not entirely organic or vegitarian, but it sounds like we do have a great deal in common.
Your writing makes me laugh and I look forward to reading more!
Oh, I just started my own blog a few days ago so check it out if you like :)

Thanks Melody, I’m really glad that you enjoy my writing. I find it amazing to see so many old friends that I still have so much in common with. The world is a wonderful, crazy place and the internet has helped many of us to find each other again and share our experiences. I look forward to reading your blog and learning what your life is like.

  3. Can I just say, without malice, sarcasm, or ill-will: you and I would not get along. Were we to meet, I would judge you (unfairly) head to toe. I’m not trying to insult or provoke you. In a twisted way, I’m trying to tell you that I’m really impressed and happy about how much (it seems) our lives do not have in common. I had a knee-jerk reaction to your About post describing yourself as a “Sometime vegan, Whole Foods, rather eat a shoe than buy non-organic” kinda gal. I yelled “Bully for you, etsy lady!” at my laptop. You know what? Thank you for that. You viciously yanked me out of my ego-fug. People like you remind me how different we all are and how far away some people are from me and my life. And that makes me feel less crowded in. Breathing room at last…

Well, I’m glad that I could help. :) We all put ourselves out there in blogging and we can’t all be fans or friends. I have to admit that I was a little shocked that my description of myself was so upsetting to you, but I like who I am and how I live my life. In the end as long as we’re happy with ourselves, what other’s think can’t overshadow that. Be happy and thanks for reading.

    • Thanks for all the great suggestions in links and your very irtinmafove article. Our household has a very healthy diet. We grow our own produce and stay away from anything non-organic. Since we’re thinking about having a baby this information is very valuable to me! It’s never too early to start thinking about your child’s health!
